16" x 20" acrylic painting on canvas. This piece is framed in a simple white wooden floating frame.
This painting ‘Rough with the Smooth’ is from a series of paintings exploring abstraction in the water's surface.
A more limited palette than usual, allowed for interesting exploration of shapes and tonal value. Colour is my language but I find contrast so powerful. With this painting I wanted to capture the texture of the water - the frothy nature of the foam against the smooth sheen on the wave.
